What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Be the lead professional and a positive role model
  • Provide leadership/direction for staff and develop them to the highest standards
  • Ensure high quality teaching and achievements for students
  • Work with vulnerable families and multi-agency teams to develop integrated programmes of support
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision
  • Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding and ensure the welfare of staff and students
  • You will be a qualified teacher with senior leadership experience in a special school with a behaviour and learning focus working with vulnerable families and multi-agency teams. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to influence and motivate staff and build effective relationships with students, staff, parents, governors and other key stakeholders.

What the school offers its staff

Cornfield is a school maintained by West Sussex County Council for students aged 8 to 16 who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties. The aim is to provide them with a supportive learning environment in which they can grow into responsible young people ready to take their place in society and the world of work. We recognise that each student is an individual, with individual needs. There are currently 72 students on roll
