Job summary

New Brighton Primary School is a vibrant, forward-thinking and inclusive 3 form-entry, maintained primary school in Wallasey. There are 660 pupils on roll, from Foundation One nursery provision to Year 6. There are also 2 resource bases, one for speech and language for up to 12 FS/KS1 pupils and another for Moderate Learning Difficulties for 12 KS2 pupils. The current Headteacher is retiring and Governors are now looking to appoint a new Headteacher with the ambition, creativity and skill set to build on the school’s many strengths and provide the strategic leadership that will take it to the next level.

Qualified Teacher Status
Graduate level qualification

Essential qualifications

Evidence of continuing professional development
Evidence of recent and relevant training and development at headship
level and/or in preparation for headship

Recent and up to date safeguarding training
Successfully undertaken an approved ‘safer recruitment’ training or a
commitment to do so before taking up the post.

Essential skills and experience

A recent and proven track record as a Headteacher, Deputy Head or similar in a primary setting.
A strategic approach to school improvement and development work.
through building, communicating and implementing a shared vision of excellence.
A working and current knowledge of all 3 Key Stages in primary
education.
Experience of leading strategic change effectively.
Ability to lead and inspire staff, governors, pupils and parents in shared expectations.
The ability to lead and manage the school in a way that encourages the
sharing of responsibilities and development of individuals.
Willingness to work productively with the Governing Body and
understand its statutory duties
A thorough knowledge of the major curriculum issues, current
educational development and legislation and how they relate to every pupil
Evidence of ambition and success for every child by setting and
achieving challenging goals and targets
Experience and knowledge of regulations around safeguarding.
