Housed in a beautiful set of buildings and landscaped grounds in the Wood Farm/Headington area of Oxford, we believe that The Slade is a very special place to work, learn and grow. We are proud of our rich curriculum, and our recent OfSTED report echoes our aspirations:
"Children are thriving at this happy nursery school. They cannot wait to begin their day and arrive eager and ready to learn. They thoroughly enjoy playing together and are active, busy learners. The very well-appointed outdoor area is a hive of activity. Children love exploring out here, whatever the weather. They relish solving problems, such as finding the best way to climb the slope to cross the bridge. Leaders have high ambition for every child to develop a love of learning and achieve exceptionally well."
The Slade is a maintained Nursery School and we cater in a variety of ways for children from 6 months old through to children in the year before they move to Reception, including Breakfast and After-School provision: our intake numbers are detailed on our school website https://www.sladenurseryschool-headington.org.uk/about-us-1, and children join our school from a wide variety of backgrounds. We pride ourselves on the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that we have established in The Slade, and work hard to ensure both children and adults enjoy learning. We do this by giving children opportunities to learn though play, first-hand experiences and the experiences of others both indoors and outdoors every day, and by creating a happy, safe, secure and stimulating environment in which each individual is known, valued and encouraged to make a personal contribution.
We are part of the Wood Farm Federation, working closely with our next-door neighbours in Wood Farm Primary School, and like the Primary School team we have high expectations for our children and for our school. Our new head teacher will benefit from being part of the wider supportive leadership of both schools, and from working with the experienced executive head teacher of the federation. Our work actively engages the families and community we serve, promoting home/school relationships based on mutual trust and understanding, so that parents and teachers can together enrich every child's education and progress.
