Headteacher and Head of Secondary Trust Development job summary
At Rudheath Senior Academy, we think and do things differently to open children’s eyes to a world of possibility.
Our mission is simple; to ensure that every one of our students leaves us equipped with the necessary skills, qualifications and mindset to take the next steps in leading a deeply rewarding life. That is why we are here.
It is, however, how we do things that sets us apart. Since the school joined the North West Academies Trust in 2018, we have invested nearly £8m to improve the facilities for both children and staff. This investment has produced facilities that are second-to-none and enabled state-of-the-art specialist teaching across the curriculum.
Our work to rebuild the school has been about more than bricks and mortar. We took the opportunity to review the school at every level. Educationally, we do things differently. A separate Year 7 hub has been created to ease the transition for our younger pupils from primary to secondary education. The introduction of careers development alongside a breadth of enrichment days has significantly increased pupils’ future opportunities. We have provided a school that is the pride of the community, and is a place for others to learn. We have also seen increasing pupil numbers for the last three years.
We now want to accelerate the process – that is why the appointment of our new Headteacher and Head of Secondary Trust Development is critical.
We want someone who sees and creates opportunity; an individual who can think differently, so innovation and best practice is embraced. We want a person who embodies what we are about; kindness and excellence for all our students. A person who will have the drive and ambition to make Rudheath an outstanding school, and someone who will also be able to share this success in other educational institutions. We want an individual with knowledge of other schools that may benefit from the opportunities that the North West Academies Trust provides to their pupils and staff.
So please find out more about this very special school and role. The future is very bright for both our existing community and our new Headteacher, to help drive the development of our trust and create a strong network of schools, employers and post-16 providers.
Furthermore, in the North West Academies Trust, you will be joining a trust that believes that an aspirational and inspirational education is the right of every child.
So please do email cbooth@nwatrust.co.uk for a job pack and to find out more.

Rudheath Senior Academy is proud to be part of the North West Academies Trust (NWAT), which is one of the highest performing trusts in the country.
Since the transfer was formally completed in November 2018, the trust’s first priority was the appointment of additional teachers and re-allocation of resources to ensure pupils are given the best possible education.
Following a period of transition, the school is now in a strong position to be able to move forward under an inspiring and inspirational leader.
While the last Ofsted inspection was under the old governance, and many things have changed, one line remains particularly relevant. It reads: “Leaders’ plans for the school… places high aspirations for and by pupils at its heart. Pupils say they feel valued by staff and teachers routinely help them to achieve the best they can.”
At the heart of our school are, however, our values are critical to not just what we achieve, but how we drive it forward.
