Are you seeking an opportunity to play a major role in leading an outstanding selective school which is the Lead School of a high performing Multi Academy Trust with excellent outcomes, year on year, for our exceptional pupils? Are you an experienced Headteacher looking for a new challenge or an experienced Deputy Headteacher looking for your first Headship? If so, Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and an energetic leader to lead the school through its next phase of development.

BCGS is the Lead School of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT), we are a smaller but highly ambitious trust which consists of three secondary schools; BCGS, The Charles Dickens School (CDS) which joined BCAT on 1 March 2017 and BCAT Free school which is a 5 Form entry 11-18 non-selective school with a joint Sixth Form with BCGS and will open in 2021. BCAT Free school is co-sited to BCGS and work on developing its multi-million-pound site starts shortly. The Trust has also submitted a bid to the DFE to open a satellite grammar provision of Barton Court Grammar School on the Coast between Whitstable and Herne Bay.

Working within BCAT you will be supported to lead Barton Court ensuring that high standards and excellence are maintained. We have high expectations and working together within BCAT we are able to share best practice and offer outstanding professional development for you and all staff across the Trust.

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.

It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020, and The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, which came out of special measures and was rated “Good” by Ofsted in March 2023. The Trust opened Barton Manor Free School, an 11 – 18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury and on the former Chaucer School site, in September 2022 to Year 7.
