Headteacher job summary

Governors are seeking an inspirational and motivated Headteacher to lead our school community. We are a single form entry Church of England school with a distinctive Christian ethos and a thriving relationship with our local Church, St John the Baptist and the village community.

If you feel excited about the prospect of leading our school, then we would be delighted to hear from you!

We are looking to appoint an inspiring and dynamic person who can lead our school community. The post becomes vacant in September 2022 when our current Headteacher stands down after nearly a decade of dedicated service.

Our Christian values underpin every aspect of school life. We are seeking the right person to enable our children to flourish and to lead our caring, motivated and professional team.

Our next Headteacher will be someone who makes time for others, who listens, empathises and reflects, and who will be able to build innovatively upon the school’s existing strong foundations. As a committed and invested Governing Body, we will give the support and challenge you need to lead the development of the school.

We believe that forward thinking includes both old and new ideas; unity is more important than uniformity; being organised does not mean inflexibility; energy and drive do not exclude empathy. If you agree, and embrace our Christian vision, then we would welcome your application.

Commitment to safeguarding

Baston Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS, medical and reference checks. All pre-employment checks are in line with "Keeping Children Safe in Education". As part of due diligence checks, the school may complete online searches on shortlisted candidates.

In recent years we have benefited from strong leadership and an enthusiastic staff team who have a ‘can do’ attitude. In our most recent inspections, the Diocese rated us an ‘Outstanding’ Church school (2014) and Ofsted rated us a ‘Good’ school (2018). Clear strategic planning has enabled us to continue to improve.

Our pupils are the focus of everything we do, and our desire is to see them “Dream, Thrive and Believe” not just academically, but in every area of their lives.
