Headteacher job summary

Headteacher, Bourne End Academy

Bourne End, Bucks Competitive remuneration package

Bourne End Academy is a high-performing 11 – 18 academy focused on providing the very best educational experience for our students. We are non-selective school operating within a selective system across Buckinghamshire.

We expect all students to strive for excellence in their academic studies and to challenge themselves to extend their knowledge and understanding. We believe it is our duty to “develop future leaders” and to equip students with the emotional and social intelligence needed to succeed in the future.   Bourne End Academy lives and breathes inclusion.  We embrace diversity and celebrate people’s differences, identities and values.

With over 750 students aged 11 – 18, we also benefit from being part of E-ACT, an established multi-Academy Trust with 28 academies across the country. This allows us to share good practice and support each other.  We have learnt a great deal as MATs have evolved over time and are excited about our next phase of growth and development.

We have recently been judged “Good” by Ofsted.  We see this as a solid foundation for further development. We are ambitious for our young people and as a consequence are keen to grow and develop our sixth form provision.  We are looking for a visionary leader to make this happen.

You will already have a track record of successful senior leadership within a school. You may be an experienced Headteacher who is excited by the opportunity to lead and develop pedagogy in a high-performing school. Alternatively, you may well be a Deputy looking to step up to a role at this level for the first time.  We have the capacity to support such a transition for a talented leader. Either way, you will place curriculum and the love of learning at the heart of what you do.  Leading others will be a strength and will set you apart.

The support from E-ACT will be extensive and ensure that the Principal is given the resources, guidance and coaching to lead Bourne End Academy to become a truly outstanding organisation.

The Trust delivers high quality leadership support through its Curriculum, Performance and Learning assurance boards that drive change across the Trust. Each school is supported by an Education Director, a successful and experienced previous school leader, who works closely with the Headteacher to offer hands-on support, assurance and professional challenge. An extensive calendar of CPD is offered across the Trust which includes high quality training on leadership, curriculum design, assessment, outcomes, reading, and literacy. The Trust is also setting up subject networks that allow for subject leaders to network across the Trust and share best practice across the Trust to have significant positive impact.

We care deeply about delivering the highest quality of education for our young people.  If you think you can build on our strengths and lead further success then download full details on the role from www.pentir.com/roles/bourneendacademy.  For a confidential discussion please call our advising consultants at Pentir -  Mike Phillips (07830 313 915) or Maureen Nicholas (07540 222 519)

E-ACT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.  All appointments are subject to enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks and satisfactory references. E-ACT is also committed to promoting equality, challenging discrimination and developing community cohesion. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Closing date: Tuesday 11th April.
