Headteacher job summary

Chalton Lower is a successful, friendly village school, providing a values-based education from EYFS to year four.

We are a small school with currently 68 children on roll, including nursery, where everyone is known, made to feel valued and respected as an individual. They are encouraged to be the best they can be, in an inclusive, safe environment. The school’s values-based ethos promotes an inclusive environment where children learn to respect and appreciate other people, take care of their surroundings and behave responsibly.

Governors are looking for a highly motivated professional headteacher, to lead the school in its next phase. We need someone who will:
• Have a teaching commitment and prepared to teach across the school (including supply and PPA cover).
• Lead, support and challenge our whole school team in the pursuit of excellence across all areas of the school.
• Be ambitious in driving continuous improvement throughout the school including: inspiring and developing the school’s staff, securing outstanding teaching and learning, setting and delivering challenging performance targets, ensuring exemplary behaviour and enabling outstanding safeguarding practices.
• Be passionate about teaching and learning, recognise the potential in all children and demonstrate role-model practices in the classroom.
• Work with the staff, using the opportunities of our school and excellent resources, to further develop our curriculum.

Our school can offer you:
• A fantastic leadership opportunity to help further develop our popular family school.
• Enthusiastic and friendly children who are willing and eager to learn.
• Friendly, supportive and skilled teaching and support staff who are dedicated and work hard.
• Well-resourced learning environment.
• Supportive governors who are ambitious for children and work with the school to ensure the best for them.
• A thriving school community with supportive parents and good relationships with our neighbouring schools.

We are a small friendly school where staff, children, parents and carers know each other well. Staff work hard to help the children develop to their full potential and to become well-rounded individuals. Our parents are very supportive and involved in the education of their children.

The Ofsted Inspection in June 2018 rated us as ‘Good’. Ofsted said ‘Pupils behave well, feel safe in school and show care and consideration towards others. They work hard most of the time and are keen to do well. The school is a very harmonious, happy and respectful community.’
