Headteacher job summary
The Emmanuel School Trust (TEST) is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic headteacher for its school in Walthamstow. Emmanuel Community School is a single form entry Christian school which serves our diverse and vibrant local area. The school welcomes children of all faiths and no faith to our caring and friendly school community. We always aim to learn together through our values of love, justice, courage, truthfulness and forgiveness.
As a Faith Designate free school, we have a strong commitment to the religious and pastoral development of all pupils and you will be required to build on the strong links with the community and the local churches. You should:
• Affirm and develop the inclusive Christian distinctiveness of the school.
• Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations for attainment and behaviour for all pupils.
• Have extensive experience of managing staff well, adopting a collaborative approach, offering inspiration, support, motivation and challenge.
• Proactively promote the principles of Inclusion and Safeguarding to ensure that these are delivered effectively.
• Be innovative in the use of technology across different aspects of school life.
• Work closely with the wider local community through our links with churches, our PTFA and local community groups.

SHORTLISTING AND INTERVIEWS
Shortlisting will take place by Thursday 19th May 2022 after which all applicants will be contacted. Interviews will take place over two days on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th May 2022 with shortlisted candidates asked to attend on both days. Information about the interview days will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
References will be taken up upon shortlisting. Candidates who are currently Deputy Head Teachers are expected to name their current Head Teacher as a reference, whereas current Head Teachers are requested to provide contact details for their Chair of Governors. Candidates must also provide the name of a referee who can support their Church affiliation.
Commitment to safeguarding
Emmanuel Community School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, as all new staff will be subject to DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Emmanuel Community School is situated in the heart of Walthamstow, we are a Christian school, seeking to serve our diverse and vibrant local area. We welcome children of all faiths and no faith to our caring and friendly school community.
Having opened as a new school in September 2012, we received our first ever Ofsted report in July 2014. The report acknowledged the school to be good with outstanding features. More recently, in December 2018, Ofsted visited us again, and found that our school continues to provide a good standard of education and that safeguarding is effective. We are excited about building on this strong foundation as we seek to move to outstanding in all areas.
