What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you want to lead a wonderful two form entry primary in a leafy suburb of Exeter? The opportunity to lead St Michael’s in Exeter has arisen as a result of the retirement of the current Headteacher.
St Michael’s serves an established community in Exeter and this is a unique opportunity to continue to shape the future journey of the school. The brilliant children at St Michael’s experience a secure curriculum and are well behaved learners. Having the highest aspirations for all pupils in terms of progress, attainment and their wider outcomes will be essential. You would be well supported by an established Senior Leadership Team at the school, who bring great expertise to their roles.
This is an opportunity that will enable you to lead in one of St Christopher’s largest schools. As such in addition to leading a large and committed staff team, there are many opportunities for the right candidate to contribute across the Trust – through leadership on strategic priorities for improvement and through collaboration with other Heads in the Trust.
At St Christopher’s our approach is to enable our schools to be unique, reflecting the communities and unique contexts within which they are set. ‘An education as unique as you’ is lived through our approach to schools within our Trust and is also made real for leaders who work within those schools. As a unique leader, we would nurture and leverage your specialisms and talents. We would shape the Headship role and any wider opportunities available to you around your unique profile of skills and experiences. With a collaborative mindset, as a Headteacher of St Michaels you would play a crucial part in leading the school and Trust into the future.
We welcome applications from current Headteachers or individuals with other significant senior leadership experience and a track record of improving provision and outcomes. We also welcome discussion with those who would be interested in flexible working arrangements.
Whatever your experience coming into the role, St Christopher’s Trust will support you every step of the way in the next stage of your leadership journey.
As a Headteacher joining our team, you will also have access to a suite of professional development opportunities and the chance to work collaboratively across our network of Headteachers.
We are looking for an individual who will:
- Be a passionate leader, able to positively juggle the demands of a thriving school community
- Further develop the curriculum to inspire all learners
- Develop inclusive practice that removes barriers to learning
- Work through other leaders to impact on staff at all levels
- Desire to lead within a supportive Trust and the desire to play an active part in improving Trust wide priorities.
- Be willing to support and develop our strong Christian ethos
What the school offers its staff
We will offer you:
- A well resourced school with a broad curriculum
- Enthusiastic children with dedicated and committed staff
- A welcoming school community with an excellent range of established local partnerships
- A supportive Trust who will seek to opportunities for you to grow and impact inside and outside of school.
- The opportunity to join an employer with an ambitious people strategy that develops your leadership career, accompanied by a regular coaching or supervision offer
- A thorough induction programme specifically tailored to your needs and experience
