What skills and experience we're looking for

This is an exciting opportunity!

The Governors seek to recruit a Headteacher to start in January 2024 at Gleadless Primary and Nursery School. The popular school serves a well-established community with families who take an active interest in their children’s education.

Gleadless Primary is a part new building, within large grounds. The school is committed to being highly inclusive and strives to deliver a truly creative and challenging curriculum. Early Years education is firmly embedded with children having a good start in the nursery. This is a vibrant, caring and outward-looking school.

During an OFSTED Inspection in 2022 the school was judged ‘Good’ in five key areas, with furthering curriculum development being the key priority to move the school to Good overall.

We are looking for a dynamic and resilient Headteacher who has high expectations for all pupils, which will lead to achieving high standards. The successful candidate will be innovative and resourceful in leadership style; nurturing and challenging to build upon the effective work taking place in the school.

In return the School can offer enthusiastic and motivated pupils who want to learn and achieve, alongside hardworking, dedicated and supportive staff and governors. There will also be an opportunity for a handover and transition package of support with the current headteacher, who is very invested in the school and Trust.

What the school offers its staff

As part of an ongoing consultation, an Academy Order is imminently due to be approved for the school to become part of Sheffield South East Trust (SSET). SSET unites six other local schools (Manor Lodge Primary, Wybourn Primary, Norfolk Primary, Phillimore Primary, Woodhouse West Primary and Acres Hill Primary). These schools work closely together for the benefit of the children and communities they serve. There are many opportunities for support, training and networking between the schools. The Trust aims for schools to grow and flourish, by being individual and closely aligned with the community, whilst having strong capacity with other similar local schools.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
