Job description

The Headteacher will:-
• Provide strategic leadership with a view to developing and improving an already outstanding School which places the rights of the child at its core
• Lead by example and model best practice regarding professional conduct, workload and personal development
• Work collaboratively to formulate the aims and objectives of the School and steer the School to achieve them through:
o the creation and delivery of an effective strategic plan (the School Improvement Plan – SIP)
o establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives and implementing the SIP
o management of staff and resources to best deliver them
o monitoring and reporting on progress towards the achievement of the School’s aims and objectives
• Create an environment of continuous improvement and learning
• Ensure that safeguarding is integral to all aspects of School life

Essential educational requirements

A levels or equivalent

Essential qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) –or a commitment to undertake the qualification
• Evidence of appropriate and continuous professional development

Essential skills and experience

• Proven successful Headship or Deputy Headship in a primary school
• Relevant leadership and management experience (including staff development and objective assessment of staff work and appraisals)
• Teaching experience throughout the primary age range
• Teaching experience across children with a wide range of abilities and needs
• Planning, development and implementation of the curriculum, strategic objectives and school improvement plan (SIP)
• Assessment and recording
• Financial management
• Working with other schools and sectors of the community to benchmark and share best practice
