What skills and experience we're looking for
Following the retirement of the current Headteacher, the Governors are now seeking to appoint a Headteacher with the passion, vision, energy and ambition to maximise the life opportunities for the students of Hyde High School, an oversubscribed school, popular within the local community.
Hyde High School is in the process of voluntarily academising and is expected to become a full member of the Tame River Educational Trust (TRET) later this academic year. As well as leading the school on a day-to-day basis, the postholder will serve on the Trust’s Executive Team, helping to inform and shape the Trust’s strategic aims. All of the Trust’s Headteachers have the autonomy to implement the Trust’s core educational purposes in a way that is beneficial to their school. The Trust recognises the importance of each of its schools maintaining their unique identities.
Hyde High School currently has an Ofsted rating of “requires improvement”. The school is in a good financial position, it is not operating under, nor is it forecasting a deficit. We have been working with TRET as our school improvement partner and an ambitious 2-year School Improvement Plan is well under way. This is an exciting time and the position presents a fantastic opportunity for a visionary and innovative leader who is ready to take on the challenge and opportunity to make a difference to the lives of our young people.
Our Headteacher must be able to:
- Demonstrate and model leadership excellence, resilience, drive and determination in an urban school with a high level of disadvantage; ensuring that the school operates in compliance with all statutory regulations including safeguarding and Health and Safety.
- Have the ambition and aspiration for every young person in our school to reach their full potential.
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders and partners, to ensure an inclusive community, building and cementing positive relationships.
- Ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest quality within a responsive curriculum model that meets individual needs and abilities.
- Model the values of the school and Tame River Educational Trust.
This position would suit an experienced school leader or an already serving Headteacher.
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
