Job description

We are looking for an experienced school leader who will prioritise our students’ experience, continue to develop our staff so they become the very best in the business, develop highly effective parent and community relationships, be politically astute and manage the school’s resources robustly.

The Headteacher will provide strategic leadership and hold accountability for direction, standards achieved, quality of education and financial performance at Ivanhoe. We are seeking candidates with a proven track record of impactful leadership and management who can provide outstanding educational leadership
to enable Ivanhoe to give every student the high quality education they deserve.

Essential educational requirements

Up to date knowledge about what research and inspection findings tell us about effective leadership, teaching and learning, and behaviour management in secondary education
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of current education practice, qualifications and accountability, SEND,
legislation and initiatives
Knowledge and understanding of performance management
of staff
Knowledge and understanding of academy financial
management, role of accounting officer and ESFA

Essential qualifications

Graduate with QTS who has worked extensively with secondary age students
Has undertaken sustained professional development, especially in leadership and management, e.g. higher qualification, NPQSL or similar

Essential skills and experience

Substantial and effective senior leadership as
headteacher, Assistant or Vice Principal
Excellent teaching
A proven track record of securing improvement in the quality of teaching and learning
A proven track record of improving pastoral systems and behaviour management
Experience of solving difficult problems in order to drive school improvement
Proven track record of building a successful team and effectively leading and managing staff
Experience of successfully managing whole school projects including budget planning and management
Successful partnership with governors leading to school improvement
Experience of engagement with parents and community to improve outcomes for students
Experience of the British Values Agenda and Prevent Training
Experience of leading a school through significant change
