Headteacher - Lifton Community Academy job summary
Due to the retirement of the current and much-loved Headteacher at Lifton, we have an exciting opportunity for a school leader to join our School Trust family. Lifton Community Academy is a vibrant community where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve the very best they can. Lifton is a school in West Devon near the Cornwall border which is in a beautiful setting.
As well as academic excellence, our children experience a vibrant curriculum offer where outdoor learning is valued. The school is an important part of the community and the children, parents and community members would love to see this relationship continue to flourish. Lifton is a wonderful school with a warm heart and the Lifton family is excited to welcome their new Headteacher.

In April 2021, the Governing Body decided to join our School Trust, the Learning Academy Partnership to ensure that the school would continue to flourish.
Lifton Community Academy serves a community in the west of Devon, near the Cornish border. The current Headteacher, Melanie Cripps, has served the school for the past 9 years and she is now embarking on a new adventure as she retires from her educational career.
Lifton serves 170 children and it is set in wonderful grounds which include multiple spaces for sport and outdoor learning, which the children love. The school also boasts two Forest School areas, and these form an important part of the curriculum.
There is a strong curriculum offer in place and Science is a real strength. The team have also worked hard to ensure that the curriculum reflects diversity, especially due to the area of the country that the school serves.
Serving the distinctiveness of the community of Lifton is vital to how we operate as a school Trust. Building and sustaining strong relationships with families, parents and the community is important to the school and Trust. Working in this way provides so many additional opportunities for our children but also ensures that we work in partnership as the children journey through the school. You will also work closely with the local governance advisory panel who will support and challenge how we serve our children and families.
