What skills and experience we're looking for
DFE qualified teacher status.
Sound knowledge and understanding of recent education legislation and its impact on schools and the ability to anticipate future trends.
Can demonstrate the principles and practice of effective teaching andlearning for pupils with varying learning abilities, including Assessment for Learning and personalised learning.
Sound knowledge of the National Curriculum.
Sound knowledge of the statutory, financial and budgetary processes required in the management of a school including best value measures.
A substantial knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for curriculum leadership and development, including a clear grasp of recent changesand the opportunities that the wider curriculum provides for all pupils.
Sound knowledge of the principles and practice of quality assurancesystems, including school review, self-evaluation and performance management.
Proven successful leadership at senior level in a Primary School as a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher
Proven ability to develop and articulate a coherent vision and formulate a plan (that sets high standards for every pupil) for the school, addressingthe needs and aspirations of the school, LA and the community in order to achieve excellence.
Proven ability to develop and sustain an effective staffing structure for theschool and to delegate tasks appropriately, monitoring their implementation.
The skills to ensure the successful management and implementation of change, including the development of the Extended Schools agenda,through the systematic and rigorous self-evaluation of the work of the school.
Proven ability and confidence to lead, manage, inspire, challenge andmotivate the whole school workforce in order to ensure effective team working.
The skills to acknowledge excellence and challenge poor performance across the school.
Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative working with a widerange of other professionals, as part of the delivery of multi-agency support services to enhance the education of all pupils.
Proven ability to prioritise, plan and organise yourself and others.
Effective communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence, and to maintain effective working relationships.
Proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders including pupils, parents, carers, governors, other schools and organisations, the LA andthe wider community to enhance the education of all pupils.
Proven ability to identify and support own training needs and those of staff.
A willingness to promote and support the school’s Initial Teacher Trainingprovision.
Proven ability to appreciate new technology and understand itsusefulness within an educational environment.
Proven ability to think creatively to anticipate and identify problems/needs and construct solutions.
Proven ability to collect and use a rich set of data to understand thestrengths and weaknesses of the work of the school.

Oakthorpe is a 2/3 form entry Primary School situated to the south of the London Borough of Enfield. The school is proud to be a provider of Initial Teacher Training and many of the teaching staff trained here themselves. Therefore we have a strong, stable and experienced workforce. Our core values of excellence, creativity, respect, confidence and creativity are at the heart of our curriculum. We offer a wide range of enrichment activities for all pupils. Pupil behaviour is excellent and we have strong partnerships with parents and other stakeholders. Staff have excellent relationships with pupils and really care about providing high quality education for all.
We have onsite provision for up to 8 children with speech, language and communication needs within a specialist resourced provision (SRP).
