On the retirement of Nan Oldfield from both roles of Executive Headteacher of the Copley and New Road Federation and the Headteacher at Copley Primary School the governing body is seeking to appoint an exceptional Headteacher who can inspire all pupils and staff to fulfil their potential.
Copley Primary School works within a Federation with New Road Primary School. This role as Headteacher for Copley Primary School will work closely with the Headteacher of New Road Primary School and have full commitment to the continued success of the Federation. The two Headteachers would have the support of an Executive Headteacher for 2 days a week to lead on the strategic direction of the Federation.
The school has exciting plans for the future that requires an authentic leader of proven experience, commitment and skill. Our new Headteacher will need to have the drive for continuous improvement and high ambitions for all.
At the heart of the school's effectiveness is the determination of all staff to help pupils to become confident and resilient learners in a happy and fun environment.
Copley School moved into a brand-new building in September 2019, designed to support a growing community and provide a forward looking educational environment. The new facilities include a purpose-built science laboratory and food technology room, a double hall, sensory room and an amazing outdoor learning environment incorporating a wildlife area, pond and chicken coup.
In September 2019, Copley began an inspirational partnership with Highbury Special School in Rastrick. A satellite provision within Copley school now provides 8-10 places for pupils with complex needs, to access mainstream education with specialist support from Highbury staff.
Copley School is an Ogden Trust Science Partnership School. The school works with 4 other local schools supporting CPD for teachers in science and learning opportunities for over 900 pupils in a PHIZ lab fully resourced by the Ogden Trust.
Copley enjoys strong links with its local community of primary and secondary schools. The school also enjoys very good relationships with parents and the wider local community.

Copley Primary School has a 45 PAN. The school currently has 274 children but this will rise to 315 by 2023. We moved into a brand new purpose built school in 2018. The school has outstanding facilities including extensive grounds including gardening areas for each class, a polytunnel and a hen coup. We also have a science and food technology room. We are a science partnership school for the Ogden Trust and support 5 other local schools. We also have a specialist provision for pupils with complex needs in our Highbury Hub supporting 10 pupils.
Copley has been part of a Federation with New Road Primary School since 2017. Both Headteachers work closely together and are supported by an Executive Headteacher for 2 days per week who works on the strategic leadership of the Federation. Both schools have one federated governing body.
