What skills and experience we're looking for
- Proven senior leadership experience in primary phase.
- Leading, and teaching, across the full primary age range.

Ability to implement the whole school policies and procedures to affect rapid and
sustained school improvement.

Experience of using a range of information and evidence to raise pupil achievement,
improve teaching and the curriculum.

Proven ability as an excellent classroom teacher (as a member of staff).

Deep subject and disciplinary knowledge to drive standards.
- Illustrations of how knowledge and concepts are structured to lead subsequent learning.

Knowledge of working memory, recall, practice and scaffolding.

What the school offers its staff
Oreston Community Academy is situated in a suburb of Plymouth in the South West of England, about 3 miles from the city centre.
We are a two-form entry school with two parallel classes for each year group andwe currently have 420children aged from 4 to 11, arranged in four teaching teams:
- A Foundation Unit of 60children
- Key Stage 1 - Years 1 and 2
- Lower Key Stage 2 - Years 3 and 4
- Upper Key Stage 2 - Years 5 and 6
In January 2011, we became the first Primary Academyin Plymouth, reflecting our desire to chart our own particular independent direction for the future. Together with a group of like minded primary and secondary schools, we formed the Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST) in September 2017.
Visitors to Oreston Community Academy are always impressed with the feeling of being part the local community. Both staff and children are proud to be part of the school. Our atmosphere is outstanding and our children’s learning journey is a positive and happy one.
