Key Purpose of the Role
The Headteacher is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the school are highly effective in keeping children safe, ensuring all children achieve high levels of attainment, developing staff, being an anchor in the community and ensuring the school flourishes.
The Headteacher will be responsible for creating a culture of continuous improvement and be an inspirational leader. They will work in partnership with the headteachers/principals across the Trust, to ensure effective development of leadership.
The role will require travel to Trust educational settings and offices.

Prioritise keeping children safe so they can flourish in your care and ensure a strong safeguarding culture is maintained across the school and community
Ensure excellent outcomes for all children
Ensure attendance is at least in line with national averages and work effectively with families and the Trust lead to support a strong attendance culture
Ensure that behaviour is excellent and clear systems are in place to support children who need extra help
Ensure the school community, staff and pupils are inclusive, enabling children with SEND and those who are disadvantaged to thrive

The duties and responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and will be reviewed annually to reflect plans, growth, and the development of the Trust. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.
Person Specification:
Qualifications | Essential Qualified Teacher Status Good honours degree or equivalent Desirable NPQH/NPQEL qualification Evidence of further professional study e.g MA, Coaching Level 3 safeguarding trained |
Professional knowledge and experience | Essential Substantial and relevant senior leadership experience in a good or improving primary setting. Successful class teacher with evidence of strong pupil outcomes. Proven track record of relevant recent professional development/research that prepares the applicant for this post. Proven track record of implementing and sustaining school improvement strategies that have a positive impact on outcomes. Experience of delivering and evaluating effective quality assurance processes. Strong operational knowledge of statutory requirements and legislation for schools. Desirable Experience of working in a multi school organisation. |

The successful candidate will be required to come to DMAT HQ to complete mandatory training.
Training Details:
Location: Central Head Office (Wardhayes) 8 Simmons Way, Okehampton, EX20 1PY
Purpose: To provide comprehensive training on company policies, procedures, and systems necessary for successful integration into the role.
Training Schedule: Daily sessions from 9am to 4pm, with breaks provided.
