Headteacher job summary
At Springfield we are extremely proud to serve a diverse community with a variety of home languages, and over 60% of pupils are eligible for the Pupil Premium.
Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of those young people who need it most?
Will you have a relentless pursuit for the highest academic outcomes achievable regardless of need or ability?
We are looking to appoint a passionate and ambitious Headteacher who is driven by a desire to affect social change and give our pupils, staff and community the skills and knowledge to succeed. Could you be the person that brings this success by allowing our pupils to Discover : Grow : Shine?
Springfield Academy is a one form entry primary school serving the community of the Bulwell Hall Estate and surrounding areas, Bulwell, on the northern most edge of Nottingham City.
Springfield is a primary school with its own nursery, but is exploring options around, and has a desire to provide 2-year-old places as well.
Levels of pupil disadvantage are well over double the national average. This makes the work that we do hugely important. And whilst bringing all the challenges that high levels of deprivation brings – it also brings a uniqueness to Springfield that makes it an amazing place to work with an amazing set of pupils and families to work alongside.
With levels of SEND being well above national figures, this is an area that we really embrace as a school. We know that every child is unique and every child, regardless of need or ability, needs adults that are prepared to champion them and provide a curriculum and learning opportunities that meets their needs and allows them to succeed.
Our pastoral and nurture provision is strong, and making children feel safe, cared for and happy is a strength of the school. Behaviour is good and our pupils are ready to learn. Our next step is make sure that we are maximising the academic outcomes for our pupils so that they are ready for the next stage of their schooling and able to ‘open more doors’ as they grow and move through their lives.
We have a well-trained, hugely passionate and thoroughly committed team of staff who understand the importance of their roles in impacting on the life chances of our pupils. This is a highly motivated group of staff who want the best for our pupils.
The school is part of Djanogly Learning Trust. and we are looking for a new Headteacher who will embrace being part of a group of schools – being prepared to both take and implement the best ideas from others, whilst also sharing and celebrating the best parts of Springfield. Djanogly children are Djanogly children whichever of our schools they attend, and we have a responsibility for wanting the best for all of them.
If Springfield sounds like the type of school that you would like to lead;
If you are passionate about serving areas of high deprivation;
If you can embrace both the challenges and rewards that this role will bring;
If you are committed to giving our pupils, staff and community the very best;
We would love to hear from you.
This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a passionate, hardworking and ambitious team of teaching and non-teaching colleagues who, at every level, make a genuine difference to pupil’s lives, every day.
Visits to the academy are encouraged! If you wish to arrange a visit, discover more about this exciting opportunity, need any further information or you would like to have an informaldiscussion, please contact Demi Stanley d.stanley@djanogly.org
