St. John’s Primary Academy part of Future Generation Trust are seeking to appoint a Headteacher from 1st January 2023.
St. John’s Primary Academy is a large and well-established primary academy in Staffordshire, judged Outstanding. It demands outstanding leadership. Leadership that is principally characterised by the ability to retain a hugely positive culture in which pupils and staff can flourish.
This opportunity is suitable for someone who is not intimidated by the success and reputation the academy enjoys but is inspired by the challenge. The ideal candidate will be someone who is aspirational and innovative and can drive continued outstanding educational practices.
The successful applicant will be ably supported by the Trust Central Team and other academy leaders in the MAT. The expectation is that they embrace this partnership and fully collaborate to help drive Future Generation Trust forward.

St. John’s is a large primary academy in the village of Essington near Wolverhampton. The accommodation comprises of generously sized classrooms, a separate dining hall and gymnasium, library, computer suite and music room. The academy also houses modern, purpose-built pre-school facilities and is set in very spacious grounds.
There has been regular investment in the building and it presents as a bright, attractive and well cared for learning environment.
The academy is over-subscribed and historically attracts a high percentage of pupils from outside the traditional catchment area. It has enjoyed a sustained history of success and a continuous ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement since 2006.
The academy has a very specific approach towards learning that is founded upon strong relationships at all levels. Fun and excitement are at the heart of the curriculum with high levels of commitment demanded of both staff and pupils.
The expectation is for pupils to be proud to belong to St. John’s and proud of their work.
The academy is organised as a mixed ability 3 form entry primary. It also has a designated Nursery which operates with a minimum of 52 places. There are 31 teaching staff and the leadership team consists of 2 Deputy Headteachers and Headteacher. A total of 23 teaching assistants are employed and the academy also has its own full time Sports Coach.
The academy has a thriving pre-school and before and after school clubs. Collectively known as ‘Eagles’ this extended provision is a fundamental part of the academy with the staff team being directly employed by St. John’s and falling under the control of the headteacher and governing body. Eagles attracts significant numbers of 2 and 3 year old children and continues to be a major strength.
The support team at St. John’s comprises of an Office Support Manager, Facilities Manager, 2 office assistants and 2 finance support roles and a caretaker.
The academy employs its own team of catering staff which are ably supported by CMC catering consultants.
Cleaning staff are also employed directly by the academy.
