What skills and experience we're looking for
Following the retirement of our current Headteacher, this is an exciting opportunity to lead a successful school. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement effective strategies, raise standards and continue to improve pupil attainment and progress. With a meticulous eye for detail, you must be able to support the diverse needs of pupils and the provision that each individual requires, whilst maintaining the ability to balance budgetary constraints.
The children, parents, staff and governors are looking for a new headteacher who will:
- Lead, motivate and inspire confidence in others.
- Be a caring and nurturing leader, dedicated to pupil and staff wellbeing.
- Have a genuine passion for excellence in teaching and learning with a proven track record of achieving sustained improvement in the quality of provision and outcomes for children.
- Continue to build upon our school’s Christian vision and core values which reflect our foundation as a Church of England School.
- Uphold our ethos that “personal and academic achievement sit side by side” (SIAMS, June 2017) and that “personal development, behaviour and welfare at the school is outstanding” (Ofsted, March 2019).
- Have superb communication, management and inter-personal skills
- Continue to develop an environment which celebrates cultural diversity and enables every child to flourish.

What the school offers its staff
“Let us encourage one another” - Hebrews 10.25
We can offer:
- A happy, caring and supportive school, with dedicated and fantastic staff, excellent relationships with the local church, supportive families and enthused and motivated pupils.
- A beautiful place to live and work, located on the south edge of York, with easy access to open countryside and yet within walking distance of the historic city centre.
- A strong, dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic team of staff and governors, committed to the development of our children.
- A wonderfully diverse range of families, due to our close proximity to the University of York, which attracts staff and students from all over the world.
- A modern, well maintained building with modern facilities, large communal areas, and flexible indoor and outdoor teaching spaces.
- A school that wants to continue to evolve and improve, while maintaining its high academic performance and its Christian ethos.
- An excellent opportunity to provide strategic leadership and direction, working collaboratively and constructively with the Governing Body to achieve this.
If you feel ready to be our next Headteacher and you can bring your experience, enthusiasm, commitment and energy to deliver our vision of excellence for our passionate pupils and motivated staff, we would love to hear from you.
