Headteacher job summary
Summary of Role:
This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership across the secondary academies within the Trust, including professional leadership, safeguarding oversight and management, and control of the academies.
The post holder will be responsible for creating a culture of continuous improvement and be an inspirational leader, committed to the highest achievement for all areas of the schools’ work. They will work in partnership with each of the principals across the secondary phase, and where required the primary phase, to ensure effective development of leadership across the Trust. The role is equivalent to that of a principal in the secondary phase.
The role will require travel to Trust educational settings and offices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal will provide the operational and strategic leadership of all activities relating to the effective management of the school. This will include establishing and sustaining the Trusts ethos and strategicdirection through consultation with the school community and Trust Executive team.
The Principal will be adaptable and resilient, ready to undertake a diverse range of tasks including the following:
Working within and across the strategic leadership groups in the Trust (as required), the local stakeholder body and under the guidance of the DfE to develop the shared vision and strategic plan for the academies, which is responsive to the communities they serve. At the core of this should be the educational and personal development and attainment of the pupils.
Working with the Lead Principal, and in partnership with the Principal's, to define and implement the Trust's vision and strategic direction so that it is understood and acted upon by all stakeholders.
Providing operation and strategic leadership support to the Lead Principal with all activities relating to the effective management of the school, including allocating financial resources appropriately, efficiently, effectively whilst developing KPIs.
Guiding, developing, and supporting the academies to achieve their performance targets.
Working with each Principal to raise aspiration, achievement, and attainment, through an inclusive, sustainable, and innovative lifelong education environment.
Working with network partners and other agencies to ensure that the strategic vision for the development of the curriculum continues to improve the life chances of all students at the school.
Ensuring the implementation of sound strategies for monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and standards of pupils' achievement, using benchmarks, and setting targets for improvement. This should include those with special educational or linguistic needs to set and meet challenging, realistic targets for improvement.
Establishing a culture that promotes excellence, equality, high expectations and aspirations of all children, prioritising the safeguarding and welfare of all children and young people.
Keeping up to date with developments in education and promoting an evidenced-based professional development programme.
Developing and establishing a coaching culture that supports all members of staff in the performance of their work by providing clear expectations and guidance, encouraging responsibility in their own management, and valuing everyone’s contribution and responsibility.
Providing leadership, direction, and management to ensure sustained improvement of the Trust.
Ensure Trust-wide priorities are consistently and effectively implemented.

The post-holder must be prepared to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and DBS checks and obtain any other statutorily required clearances.
