What skills and experience we're looking for

We are now looking for an exceptional Head to lead The Telford Langley School into the next phase of its growth and development as part of the Community Academies Trust. The new Head will bring superb leadership skills and experience of successfully running a high challenge school of similar size in an area of disadvantage and complex needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a strong senior leadership team and the support of the local authority and wider community to generate real impact, driving school improvement in academic outcomes and behavioural culture, and growing student numbers. Crucially, they will be driven by values that align with the Trust’s conviction that all young people have talent and the potential to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

What the school offers its staff

With a mission to be beacons of outstanding local provision, Community Academies Trust (CAT) is a Multi Academy Trust comprising of 13 primary and 5 secondary schools in Warwickshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire. We work to raise standards and achieve school improvement, responding to the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve. Committed to preserving local school identity and ethos, we are determined to be providers who local families can rely on for excellence for their children’s education.

Located in the Dawley area of Telford in Shropshire, The Telford Langley School is a co-educational secondary school with around 1,000 students aged 11 to 16, which joined the Community Academies Trust in 2015. With an Ofsted judgement of Good and a strong local reputation, the School is popular and over-subscribed as a first choice. The School seeks to provide high quality teaching in a safe and secure learning environment that challenges pupils to reach their full academic potential and develop into well-rounded individuals. With the School’s commitment to, ‘Ensuring Excellence,’ students are encouraged to be aspirational in their approach, as well as developing their talents through an extensive programme of leadership and extracurricular opportunities.
