Headteacher job summary
Thrussington CE Primary School and Scalford CE Primary School in Leicestershire are two much loved village schools with strong identities, rich histories and close-knit communities who care deeply about their children and their schools. This is a fantastic opportunity for the new Headteacher to provide the inspirational leadership which will ensure both schools push forward for even greater success.
Thrussington has capacity for 110 children with Scalford having capacity for 84. Each school has many strengths to build on - committed staff, supportive governors, engaged families, and pupils who are curious, kind and ambitious. The new Headteacher will work with a talented team where the shared goal is to consolidate those strengths and improve further, ensuring consistently excellent outcomes and experiences for every child.
While each school will retain its own identity, character, and community voice, this role offers the opportunity, with the support of each school's Assistant Headteachers, to further the strategic development of the school's curriculum and staff collaboration to benefit the educational outcomes for all pupils.
The schools are part of Learn Academies Trust, a thriving Multi-Academy Trust, founded in 2016, and now a proud family of 19 Church of England and Community Primary Schools across Leicestershire, including Leicester City. Our Church schools are part of the wider Diocese of Leicester network of 97 schools and academies, giving us access to a strong, collaborative community and shared expertise.
Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We welcome and respect children and families of all faiths and none, ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and able to flourish. We believe in the transformative power of education. Guided by our vision and values, we work in courageous fellowship to pursue our core aims of equity, well-being, and excellence, relentlessly striving to provide the very best opportunities for every learner and every member of staff.
The Trust is well established and respected, and you will be a key part of its future growth, development, innovation, and continuous improvement. We are a community that is committed to professional growth, collaboration, and innovation. This is more than a leadership role - it’s an opportunity to shape futures and make a lasting impact.
Whether you are currently a Deputy Head/Vice Principal or Head of School, ambitious for your first headship or an experienced Headteacher ready for a new challenge, if you are inspired by leading two cherished schools and by the opportunity to shape their next chapter of excellence while preserving what makes each distinctive, we would be delighted to hear from you. You must have a passion for continuous improvement, embracing new ideas to enhance teaching and learning. This will be driven by a clear vision for the future of the schools and the ability to implement strategic initiatives that deliver tangible results. Importantly, you must be values-led and motivated to make a real difference to the lives of the pupils.
