Salary Range: L15 to L21 (£59,581-£69,031)
Responsible to: The Board of Governors

Governors of Tregolls School - an Academy seek a dynamic, ambitious and innovative Headteacher to guide the school through the next exciting period of development and change.
A stand-alone academy in the beautiful cathedral city of Truro, Cornwall, it comprises a Nursery and Area Resource Base as well as two form entry from reception to Year 6. Completion of a large extension in 2017 took our capacity to 420 pupils. Currently the number on role is at 327 but Truro is a thriving city and the school is expected to reach capacity in the next few years.
The new Headteacher will build on and enhance present relationships with other schools whilst driving forward the reputation of the school to inspire stakeholders. The next Headteacher will have the full support of an active and supportive Board of Governors, a committed Senior Leadership Team and a dedicated staff body.
We are looking for someone who will:
• Lead our highly skilled teachers to further provide quality education for our children;
• Effectively communicate with all stakeholders;
• Lead an inclusive culture that promotes excellence, equality and high
expectations of all members of the school community;
• Have a track record of leading positive change, especially with children deemed disadvantaged;
• Provide broad and balanced opportunities to develop the whole child;
• Have the ability to manage growth and the responsibilities of an accounting officer in a stand -alone academy.
We can offer:
• The freedom that a stand-alone academy brings;
• A fully committed and enthusiastic team of staff;
• A board of governors who are passionate about making a difference
• Links to The Penair Partnership of schools who work collectively to improve education across Truro.
• A unique wellbeing package that recognises the stresses of school leadership at this time
At Tregolls we prepare our children to be Life Ready and support them to Live Happy. We are looking for a special person to make that Vision Statement a reality.

Tregolls School is a large school in the City of Truro, Cornwall with capacity for 420 pupils. A £3.2 million pound extension completed in 2017 makes it one of the largest primaries
in Truro. The school is growing and will eventually be two-form entry. Despite being in the affluent City of Truro the school is situated close to a large housing estate which is mainly
social housing. This area has one of the highest rates of deprivation in the county. Therefore, the school is above national for FSM eligibility (45%) as opposed to 24% for national.
We have an Area Resource Base which provides 10 places for children with severe and profound multiple learning difficulties. This is led by extremely skilled and dedicated staff.
Over time we have concentrated on building a strong Pastoral Team and it is recognised in the area for being innovative, providing exemplary pastoral care and sharing good practice. Children at Tregolls are appreciative of school, and feel nurtured and safe. Children at Tregolls are taught to be resilient and to make positive change to their own lives and the wider community. Preparing the children for the challenges of the 21st Century by embedding technology in the curriculum is key to widening their world and the opportunities open to them.
In spite of the pandemic Tregolls has been a steadying influence on the children and an amazing support to the community. Remote learning has been carefully thought out and
the children have been supported from food parcels if required, to a cheery story from a teacher and safeguarding at its very best.
Governors of a stand-alone academy need to have a deeper understanding of the strategic
direction of the school and the governors at Tregolls are driven by the desire to improve the life chances of all children whilst running what is in effect a SME.
As a stand-alone academy, the Headteacher is the Accounting Officer and although this gives an enormous amount of freedom it also means that the challenges of managing budgets and forecasts need to be skillfully managed.
We are proud of how we focus on personal development and well-being alongside academic achievement. Our coherent and progressive curriculum is underpinned by our desire to provide a holistic and relevant education for each child.
The Governing Body are aware that joining a multi academy trust should be subject to regular review. The current view is that Tregolls is a stand alone academy but governors wish to actively research whether joining a trust would help the school improve its offer to children.
The successful candidate will be involved in any discussion that takes place. Currently the governing body have not identified a multi academy trust or engaged actively with
potential trusts.
