What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an existing and successful headteacher, or an outstanding deputy headteacher, who is creative, reliable and astute with the passion, drive, and enthusiasm to build on Water Lane Academy’s strengths. We are looking for an individual who can ensure that Water Lane Academy remains at the centre of the local community and who fosters successful relationships with parents, carers and external organisations, while maintaining relationships with other REAch2 schools and the wider trust. The successful individual will be focussed on pupil and staff development alike. They will be able to lead, motivate, develop, and inspire a school team of staff and governors who are passionately committed to giving pupils the widest range of real-life enriching experiences and exceptional opportunities, within a culture of high expectations. We would like to hear from individuals who can demonstrate boundless energy, dedication and enthusiasm for the role and ultimately the passion to make a difference to children’s lives.

What the school offers its staff

Based in Harlow, and set in large and beautiful grounds, Water Lane Primary Academy is a happy and safe environment in which children can learn, grow and develop into confident and successful young people. The school has a caring team that works hard to reach high standards in everything they do. The school firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and regard parents as an active partner in their child’s education. Through the school’s engaging curriculum, they ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity that will help to develop: a strong knowledge base, high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. The school has a focus on Visible Learning strategies that promote independence, develop resilience and encourage all our children to become inquisitive, life-long learners. Like many REAch2 schools, Water Lane Primary Academy supports a community that is socio-economically mixed and the number of students who are from minority ethnic backgrounds is above the national average.

REAch2 offers:

  • A wide range of professional development opportunities and the opportunity to work with some of the best educational professionals in the country,
  • Membership of the Teacher’s Pension Scheme TPS,
  • Access to professional coaching and mentoring,
  • Annual leadership events, workshops and conferences,
  • As part of REAch2 employee benefits we also offer an eye care scheme, access to an Employee Assistance Programme for you and your immediate family and membership to ‘perks at work’ – which includes discounts on holidays, shopping, family days out and much more.

Further details about the role

Being part of REAch2Since 2014, Water Lane Primary Academy has been part of the REAch2, family. There are 60 schools within our organisation, grouped into ten clusters. Wate Lane Primary Academy sits within cluster four and works most closely with five others in that cluster, based from Harlow, across Hertfordshire to Aylesbury.
