Further details about the role
William
Barnes is a thriving rural primary school, which has just achieved our third consecutive
‘good’ OFSTED. The governors are seeking
a Headteacher to maintain and develop the school’s ethos, rooted in the
school’s motto of “Every Child Counts”.
Set
in beautiful North Dorset, William Barnes Primary School is an attractive
single form entry primary school set in spacious grounds in the middle of the
ancient market town of Sturminster Newton.
The school is in an excellent position with strong academic and behaviour management systems in place and a highly committed and experienced staff. This has been recognised by three consecutive ‘good’ OFSTED inspections.
Due to the retirement of our current head at the end of this academic year we are looking to appoint a Headteacher with the skills to maintain the school’s ethos and the inspiration and vision to develop the school even further.
Values
Our motto “Every child counts” underpins everything we aim to do. This is supported by the school vision:
- Preparing all children for life
- An inspirational, stimulating, well-resourced environment
- A safe and secure school at the heart of the community
- A high-quality professional staff team
- Taking pride in all our achievements
- Inquiry, independence and enthusiasm for learning
- High standards of behaviour from all
You must have the knowledge, experience, and resilience to drive improvement throughout the school with the interpersonal skills to motivate others and lead our team. It is expected that this would be demonstrated by NPQH, or evidence of equivalent level of learning achieved through senior leadership role within a school.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please call the school to make an appointment on 01258 472257.
Commitment to safeguarding
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines, along with two satisfactory references.
This school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted.
