High Level Teaching Assistant job summary

 Post: HLTA (Literacy and Numeracy SEND) – (Secondary)

Hours/Contract: Part-time, Term-time, Permanent Contract. 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year      

The Role:  We are looking to appoint a flexible and dedicated person to work with our teaching staff under their guidance to undertake a range of work including the running of nurture groups in English, Maths and reading, to enable access to learning for pupils and to support the teacher in the delivery of the curriculum in English and Maths so pupils can achieve their full potential.

The Person: This role involves responsibility for the management and development of nurture provision at KS3 within the school, assessing the educational needs of pupils using knowledge and skills to support pupil’s learning, focusing on literacy and numeracy.  We are looking for some of the following qualities and experience:

• Higher Level Teaching Assistant standard or equivalent qualification and/or experience.

• Training in relevant learning strategies such as literacy

• Numeracy/literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Mathematics

• Knowledge and experience of implementing national/foundation stage curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.

• Understanding of child development and learning processes and statutory frameworks relating to teaching.

• Experience of classroom management and the care and control of pupils
