THE POST We are looking for a positive and inspiring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the team at Wymondham College Prep School on a permanent basis. The role will support and complement the professional work of teachers as directed. The successful candidate will:

  • Have GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Mathematics, previous experience working with children, preferably primary school age, in a classroom or similar environment and have Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Be committed to the school’s high standards of teaching, learning and professional development.
  • Have excellent communication skills, a warm and caring manner and a good sense of humour.
  • Understand the importance of an inclusive environment, have high expectations and confidence to challenge and support pupils’ choices.
  • Have a welcoming, kind and nurturing manner and a commitment to professionalism.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of pupils in adherence with the school procedures while in play areas, the dining hall, classrooms or anywhere on the school site

What the school offers its staff

Wymondham College Prep School is looking to appoint someone who is passionate about both teaching and learning and supporting and nurturing pupils to be the very best they can be. This individual needs to believe in the power of kindness and be highly motivated to work as a part of a highly ambitious and committed team.

Our HLTAs are hugely valued by everyone and will have the opportunity to work in a small team of people on planning and resourcing lessons. They will be supported by being provided with detailed curriculum guidance and schemes of work with accompanying plans and resources. They will have PPA and will be supported by our Assistant Headteacher – Teaching and Learning.

Wymondham College Prep School opened in September 2020 with two Reception classes housed in Wymondham College. In September 2021 the school moved into its new purpose built home on the site of Wymondham College. In September 2024, the school will be two form entry Reception – Year 6 with 400 pupils. When the school is full, we will be a school of 452 pupils which includes 32 boarders across Year 5 & Year 6.
