The Discovery Academy, part of the Alpha Academies Trust, are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, skilled Higher Level Learning and Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and professional team. The post is to manage the Academy’s Behaviour Support Unit, where students will work in a small group setting on a temporary basis, designed to support them in a nurturing environment, to prepare them for a successful return to the mainstream setting.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the education system and national curriculum; particular experience of working with learners with behavioural challenges and social and emotional needs is essential. This will encompass the understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to deliver personalised learning programmes to learners. Experience of SEMH, especially within a school or academy setting is essential.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills, and will lead on the delivery social and emotional programmes as well as the national curriculum. The environment in which the role operates will demand that the post holder has the initiative and confidence to make decisions and solve problems themselves, but is able to effectively judge when to make decisions, consult with others or their line manager.
