Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

Would you describe yourself as someone who could brighten the day of a child no matter what the circumstances? Are you committed to providing a high quality education and wider opportunities for children? We are currently looking for a flexible and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our existing school team.

This position will include teaching PPA across all year groups in school plus teaching to cover staff absence as required. In addition, you will work as an additional teaching colleague when required in all classes and support interventions for children and lunch time support. Ideally, we are looking for a member of staff with enthusiasm and commitment to support the vision of the school to provide a wide range of opportunities such as outdoor learning, physical activity or creative arts. We are developing our provision, so are looking for a colleague with experience or an interest in one of these areas (or other) and a willingness to undertake training to provide sessions for children across school. We have children with a range of needs in school so a commitment to inclusive practice and adaptive teaching is paramount.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated school staff and be part of a vibrant school community which places the child at the centre of all we do. We are a nurturing school and use restorative approaches to manage behaviour.

You will need:

  • HLTA qualification or working towards gaining the qualification/happy to gain the qualification.
  • patience with and understanding when dealing with behaviour.
  • creativity and flexibility in your approach to learning.
  • experience of working in a primary school setting.
  • experience of leading groups and covering classes.
  • experience of working with children with a range of needs.

The minimum educational requirement is GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English.

Salary range will be determined within the TA level 4 pay scales, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
