Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Tutor job summary

We are looking for a passionate and innovative experienced or aspiring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join tjehard working, diverse and dedicated team at Orchard Academy. This is a crucial role to ensure students can access learning, fulfil their potential, and take part in all aspects of school life.


Are you an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant or an aspiring HLTA who is passionate about supporting the progress, outcomes and well-being of students? Do you want to be supported in your career development?

In your role as HLTA you will assist in every aspect of Orchard Academy. Not only will you work alongside students to ensure they are supported in their learning, personal development and beyond, but you will also be encouraged to bring your flair and enthusiasm to their learning as you plan and deliver your own suite of activities, lessons and interventions.


The successful candidate will:


  • Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with learners, parents/carers, governors, other staff and external agencies in the best interests of pupils
  • Plan and prepare lessons with teachers, participating in all stages of the planning cycle, including in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lesson plans
  • Develop and prepare resources for learning activities in accordance with lesson plans and in response to pupil need
  • Teach whole classes within a pre-determined lesson framework, across the whole school
  • Teach individuals and groups and provide quality learning opportunities to address identified gaps in learning, across the whole school
