Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

The Governors at Barlby Bridge CP are seeking to appoint a committed, self-motivated, caring and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will effectively support the teaching and learning of our pupils; working alongside class teachers to plan and lead whole class lessons. A key aspect of the role will include planning and teaching across all areas of the curriculum. The flexibility to cover classes outside of the arranged timetable at short notice or when additional teacher cover is needed is an essential requirement. Working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will have specific responsibilities for a key aspect of school development, including supporting the schools’ focus on developing pupil well-being and working towards the next level of the Healthy Schools Award in 2022-23. You will also work with the SENCO to oversee the management of the teaching assistant team, taking a key part in the appraisal cycle and also working with the mental health lead to Champion staff well-being. As part of the role, additional hours have been allocated to support with the Schools Catch-Up programme, providing regular small group tutoring sessions both in the school day and part of an after school offer. The successful candidate will:

¨ Have significant experience of working with pupils across the primary age range

¨ Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a good standard of written English

¨ Hold a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or equivalent

¨ Demonstrate flexibility and initiative when teaching across the primary age range

¨ Work effectively as a team, engaging well with different audiences and contributing effectively to the schools extra curricula offer.
