The Trustees of Steel City Schools Partnership are looking to recruit a skilled and inspirational SEND practitioner to complement our existing educational support team.

General expectations

  • To plan and teach in the Integrated Resource unit, KS1 & KS2.
  • The activities that are planned / delivered will be for whole classes.

Relevant Qualifications:

  • Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ level 2 in English and Maths
  • Training in the relevant learning strategies e.g. literacy

Knowledge, skills and qualities:

  • Is articulate and committed to achieving high academic standards for all children, including those with SEND.
  • Is motivated, well-organised, resourceful and able to use own initiative when necessary.
  • Is hard working and a great team player, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident in their ability to support students across Key Stages 1 and 2.
  • Is able to assess pupils’ responses to learning tasks and, where appropriate, modify methods to meet individual needs.
  • Is able to work accurately and have strong attention to detail.
  • Is pro-active, flexible and keen to take on additional responsibilities as they arise.
  • Is kind, caring and have a patient personality.
  • Has a nurturing approach to all children.
  • Has a love of learning and is committed to professional development.
  • Is knowledgeable of effective strategies to meet the needs of pupils with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Hearing Impairment, SEMH difficulties, Severe Learning difficulties, Profound and multiple learning difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
  • Has a good understanding of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2015) and adaptive teaching.
