Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

Harris Junior Academy Carshalton is currently looking to recruit a dynamic, forward thinking and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

This will initially be a one-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

You will predominantly be working with groups of children under the direction of the class teacher, with occasional basic administrative tasks. Your role will also involve small group and individual support focused on raising attainment.

What we are looking for

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. You will need:

Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
A qualification of minimum NVQ level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent, or equivalent experience working in a school.
The ability to use your initiative.
The ability to communicate effectively with children and parents and work as part of our dedicated and caring staff team.
Experience of working with children for whom English is an additional language.
Experience of delivering a structured phonics programme would be desirable.

Harris Junior Academy Carshalton opened in September 2013. We are a three-form entry school situated in Carshalton, which is part of the London Borough of Sutton. Our children, aged between 7 and 11 years of age, bring a wonderful amount of energy and enthusiasm to our school.

We have more than 300 lively young minds at our Academy. Our dedicated teachers and support staff build on the children’s learning from the infant school to support each to be the best they can be.
