Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary
We are seeking to appoint an innovative Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and dedicated Special Educational Needs team at our 11-16 mixed, comprehensive school in Guildford.
Students with SEND are educated both in targeted small groups and in their mainstream classroom. The successful candidate will be working within all subject areas within the school. We are particularly interested in aspiring teachers who would like to gain further experience of working with young people before starting their training. The candidate would be responsible for closely liaising with the SENCO to support students with difficulties with literacy and/or wellbeing. They would be required to assess, plan and deliver interventions 1:1 and to small groups for students across the age range. They would need to have an understanding of the English Curriculum content across Key Stages 3 and 4, and/or wellbeing approaches to support students’ confidence and signpost to specialist support options.
The post would suit applicants with flexibility, enthusiasm and sensitivity. An excellent understanding of SEND and other learning difficulties is essential. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a willingness to be a team player alongside our committed support team. SEND related training would be advantageous.
