Higher Level Teaching Assistant Level 1 job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our professional and supportive department. You will join.
our team of Teaching Assistants, SENDCO and SEND Progress Officer to support learning in the classroom environment and deliver targeted interventions within our newly established HIVE learning space. We offer high quality support from colleagues and senior leadership team, as well as high quality training and development for all staff through our extensive CPD programme.
We have a strong culture of high expectations and commitment to all of our students and we are looking for an ambitious, student focused professional who will work collaboratively and join an effective team and develop with us to be a be a beacon of best practice and inclusive teaching.
Successful candidate:
- Experience of working as a TA/HLTA, with a relevant professional qualification, and knowledge and skills to support students with varied special educational needs and disabilities.
- An ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with pupils, parents, staff and other stakeholders.
- Due to training and expertise, you will carry a specific specialist responsibility and support and develop other staff in the school when help is needed in this area.
- Enthusiasm to participate fully in all areas of school life.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to undertake additional training to support student needs and engagement with educational research.
- An ability to adapt practice and contribute towards the SEND vision.
- To have an empathetic demeanor in a bid to understand and effectively support students with SEND.
The role will:
- Complement the professional role of the teacher by supporting teaching and learning, contribute to and implement curriculum programs for EHC, SEND and lower attaining students.
- Involve, overseeing, manage and shape the interventions in place within the department.
- Involve Creating, monitoring and evaluating Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
- In liaison with the SENDCO and SEND Progress Officer, will use data to identify the needs of specific students, and plan timely targeted interventions to support and develop the learning of these students.
- Involve leading a small group and 1:1 intervention sessions.
- Involve supporting colleagues in the Hive by providing CPD and sharing practice.
- Involve liaising with students with specific learning needs to best support their attendance, engagement and progress in school.
- Involve being part of a team of professionals to create actions plans and contribute to whole school improvement.
Please note: We will provide HLTA qualification training for the right candidate.
