Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a part-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant based at Milton on Stour CE VA Primary School, on a fixed-term contract.
Hours: 30 hours per week,Monday to Friday, 8.45am until 3.45pm (with 1 hour unpaid lunch each day), 38.2 weeks per year (term time plus one agreed inset day per year).
Salary: Dorset Grade 9, Point 19 - £29,777 pro rata, per annum (actual salary £20,433 per annum).
Start date: 1st January 2025
End date: 31st August 2025
Milton - on Stour Primary School is set in the beautiful North Dorset countryside, just outside the town of Gillingham. The school is a five class Church of England Primary school with mixed age classes and lies adjacent to the St Jude and St Simon Church.At Milton our core values are love, hope and joy and our Christian ethos is underpinned by the story of The Good Shepherd. Our school prides itself on a curriculum that is text rich and offers experiential learning, with embracing diversity, developing character skills and assured oracy at the heart of what we do.Milton on Stour Primary School joined Pickwick in February 2024 and strongly believes in collaboration and sharing of best practice to enable our children to flourish in their school and their community. Milton - on Stour Primary School was awarded a Good Ofsted grade in July 2023.
We are looking to appoint a committed and flexible teaching assistant who has experience in supporting pupils with SEND to support pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Desirable successful candidate will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by a class teacher and wider team in the role of Teaching Assistant.
Duties will include:
Supporting pupils learning, either in groups or through 1:1 work. The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the pupil/s
Supporting pupils self-esteem, inclusion and behavioural development plus pastoral needs
Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required
Supporting the Teacher/s
Supporting the curriculum - Support the delivery of the English and Mathematics curriculum along with other aspects of both the National Curriculum and the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.
Support the schoole.g.assisting with setting up, storing and retrieving and general maintenance of classroom equipment and teaching aids.
The jobholder must demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This will involve undertaking annual Safeguard training and using school reporting systems for any Safeguard concerns.
