Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary
Our school
Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre provides an innovative education to 3 to 7 years olds in the east of Luton, close to the Hertfordshire border. We are an oversubscribed and successful two-form entry infant school admitting 60 children annually. We are extremely well-resourced and keep children at the centre of everything we do. Our pupils are extremely keen to learn and participate, and we teach a rich and challenging curriculum that is constantly evolving.
We only recruit people who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives; people who are highly reflective and challenge themselves to keep on improving. This means our working relationships can be relatively relaxed and informal. People love working here; we are warm, welcoming, positive, supportive and forward-looking. We have very high expectations of both children and adults.
Information about this role
To work independently to cover and lead class teaching during class teachers’ directed non-contact time and during short-term absences.
This is a non-class-based role, and the successful candidate will be deployed across the school throughout the week, working in all departments, including Nursery, Reception, Year One, Year Two and our specialist SEND Base for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
The role will also involve working under the direction of the Deputy Head Teacher to support the delivery and implementation of the school’s Targeted Academic Support Strategy. This will involve effectively managing an allocated caseload of pupils who are accessing the school’s Targeted Academic Support Strategy and monitoring the progress of these pupils so that informed decision-making can occur on an ongoing basis and inform future interventions and provision.
