What skills and experience we're looking for

St Michael’s CofE Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our team. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated HLTA to cover PPA across our year groups.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be effective at developing caring and positive relationships with pupils and have the presence to manage all classes in the school.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, assist in the planning cycle and help prepare of resources. Your own PPA time will be given to you.
  • Be dedicated to providing meaningful and effective cover and to removing barriers to learning for pupils.
  • Have high expectations of themselves and pupils with a positive, can do and proactive nature.
  • Be happy to support the Church of England ethos of our school though our school values.

St Michael’s CofE Primary Academy is a larger than average, primary school, located in Heavitree, Exeter. It is part of St Christopher’s Trust which comprises of 19 schools across the county. St Michael’s has enjoyed an excellent reputation for serving the local community for over 140 years. It is oversubscribed and is currently full with 420 pupils. The school is inclusive and as such, welcomes children with a range of needs and from a variety of backgrounds. This leads to an active learning environment, catering for diverse cohorts whilst ensuring high standards. There is a strong team culture with staff working closely with each other for the benefit of all the children. Through established and embedded values, St Michael’s children are not only excellent learners, but they are also first class citizens, helping to make the world a better place for all.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
