History / Humanities Teacher - Temporary, Spring term
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic History teacher to join our Humanities team for an initial period of one term from January 2020. We are interested in recruiting a teacher who has the ability and potential to teach outstanding lessons in the full range of age and ability at our 11-14 school. This post is suitable for either experienced teachers or NQTs.
Our Humanities department is a successful and thriving area of the college, with our students achieving consistently strong Key Stage 3 results. We have an exciting and relevant curriculum which engages students’ interest and promotes a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. We also have a programme of Enrichment Day activities and trips to further stimulate and develop students’ interest in Humanities subjects and all our teachers get involved.
An enthusiasm for your subject is essential together with the ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve highly and enjoy History. Our Humanities curriculum is modular with students moving between specialist History and Geography teachers for each unit (approx. 8 weeks). All our Humanities teachers also teach Beliefs and Values (RE) as part of the Humanities curriculum. Our vision statement clearly describes our ‘Journey to Excellence’ and we are aiming to move from ‘good to outstanding’ in all aspects of our work at the college, particularly in teaching and learning. All our teachers are also Form Tutors to a vertically grouped tutor group and play an active part in our House structure.
We teach in modern well-equipped rooms, each with an interactive Smartboard and we have access to computers in ICT rooms nearby. We also have sets of ipads and Microsoft tablets available to book across the college. Results are consistently high and the majority of students achieve or exceed their progress targets from Key Stage 2 to 3.
We have a very strong commitment to the professional development of all our staff and everyone is involved in continuously developing their own practice through our Professional Learning Communities.
