History Teacher job summary
We are looking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and highly effective History teacher, who will enjoy working in a school where History is the largest option subject at GCSE. The successful candidate will be capable of inspiring students through their passion for the subject, and have a firm belief in the potential of all students. Experience of teaching History in both KS3 and KS4 is essential.
The Humanities department is supportive, highly successful, experienced and vibrant. Outcomes are very strong and the department is well resourced with staff teaching in their own rooms. We are part of the Synergy Multi-Academy Trust and therefore have strong links with the Humanities department at Reepham High School and College, Sheringham High School and Stalham High School.
We deliver an in-house Key Stage 3 History curriculum over three years that follows the National Curriculum, though also branches out beyond this. At Key Stage 4 we follow the Edexcel curriculum, currently focusing on Medicine in Britain c.1250 to present; Anglo-Saxon and Norman England c.1060-1088; The American West c.1835-1895 and Weimar and Nazi Germany 1918-1939.
You will receive high quality support and CPD, and will be encouraged to develop enquiry and research to improve your pedagogy further. If you would like to be part of our future, working with an employer who will listen to you, challenge and support your decision making, as well as provide you with a wealth of resources to fulfil this fantastic opportunity, your application will be welcomed.
Commitment to safeguarding
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. If appointed you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and comply with child protection policies and practices. You will also need to provide two satisfactory references.

Synergy Multi Academy Trust
Litcham School is an ‘all through’ school which is one of 15 schools within Synergy Multi Academy Trust. Other Synergy secondary schools are Reepham High School & College, Sheringham High School and Stalham High School. Synergy MAT grew significantly in September 2021 when the North Norfolk Academies Trust (NNAT) merged with Synergy. Synergy already enjoys effective and productive trust wide collaboration, which is particularly strong in its primary schools, and the merger has paved the way for the next stage of collaboration between secondary schools. We expect being part of this collaboration will offer excellent opportunities for professional development at all levels, but particularly at Senior Leadership level. This enhanced collaboration is now in its second year. To find out more about Synergy MAT, please visit its website www.synergymat.org.uk
Litcham School
Litcham School is an excellent school across both the Primary and the Secondary Phases. Outcomes have been strong for several years and our recently published Ofsted Graded inspection report judged the school to be Good in all areas. We firmly believe high quality Personal Development is the foundation of outstanding school–pupil rapport, pupils feeling a sense of belonging to and ownership of the school, positive school-community links and subsequent pupil progress.
