History Teacher- With Head of Department Responsibilities job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and outstanding History teacher to join as Head of department in September 2025 on a permanent, full-time basis. You will have excellent subject knowledge and a passion to engage our students to reach their potential.

What does this job do?


  • To plan and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
  • To encourage and deliver a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • To contribute to raising student attainment


What are the job requirements?


  • QTS Qualification
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of national and examination curricular requirements of the subject.
  • Excellent knowledge of Geography.
  • Established ability to plan lessons with clear objectives to ensure progression for all students
  • Established as an effective teacher across Key stage 3/4
  • An in-depth understanding and commitment to safeguarding children and young people
  • Some experience of successfully teaching to KS3-KS4 students, with a clear understanding of the teaching provision required in secondary schools
  • A second Humanities subject would be beneficial.
