HLTA for SEMH pupils job summary
Our secondary SEMH class (Orange) is increasing in number and we will have a new teaching and learning space at at Springfield Commercial Centre, as well as their existing space on the main site. This new learning area will be solely for use by Orange Class as well as opportunities to access the wider Powerhouse Post 16 specialist Learning to Live and Work facilities. The group will work in two cohorts and we are looking for a dedicated Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead flexible groups. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our learners to acquire essential life skills and employment skills, to fully equip them for their future.
As a HLTA, you will work closely with pupils who have a variety of needs, and help foster their learning for life, their potential vocational development, emotional regulation and well-being. You will assist with lesson delivery, tailor support to individual needs, and encourage learners to achieve their potential in a safe, inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities will include teaching practical sessions, focusing on essential life skills such as independent living, effective communication, financial literacy, and vocational readiness to support their transition into adulthood as well as some foundation subjects such as the Arts and Physical Education. You’ll also support behaviour regulation, working closely with our dedicated staff team to ensure a positive, engaging atmosphere for all learners.
A driving licence is required for this post and willingness to undertake MIDAS (minibus training) if don't already have it
