HLTA job summary

Pilgrim Primary Academy is an inclusive, diverse and popular school located in the heart of Plymouth. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced HLTA to join our team of exceptional practitioners.
The HLTA role will primarily be to plan, deliver and assess a specialist subject during teaching PPA cover sessions across the school. It will also include covering classes as and when required.The purpose and duties of this role are outlined below:

• The role of the HLTA PPPA Cover is to provide and deliver activities to whole classes of pupils when the class teacher is not present. The HLTA will plan, prepare and deliver lessons and assess, mark, record and report on development, progress and attainment, under the direction of subject coordinators.
• To work independently of a teacher with whole classes of pupils.
• To be responsible for the development of a specialist area within school. The school is willing to consider any specialism excluding music as we already employ an outstanding music specialist.
• When not required to cover whole classes, to lead learning of small groups, pairs or individuals and to provide pastoral support where required through school.
• Plan and deliver challenging teaching and learning intentions and evaluate and adjust lessons and work plans as appropriate.
• Select and prepare resources necessary to lead learning activities the deliver the planned curriculum.
• Organise and manage appropriate learning environments and resources for the lessons they teach.
• Monitor and evaluate pupil's responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against learning intentions.
• Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.
• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
• Work within an established positive behaviour policy to anticipate and manage behaviour constructively promoting self-control
• Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom recognising and responding to their individual
