Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and helping them thrive? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at Barnsole Primary School, where every day brings new opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our pupils.

About the Role:

As an HLTA at Barnsole you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional learning experiences, working alongside a skilled teaching team to:

  • Lead learning activities for individuals, small groups, or whole classes under the guidance of a qualified teacher.

  • Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of our students.

  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

  • Take initiative and lead the classroom in the teacher's absence, ensuring continuity and consistency in learning.

An HLTA qualification is desirable but not essential. What matters most is your ability to demonstrate leadership in the classroom, your passion for helping students with SEN succeed, and your commitment to enhancing their educational journey.

We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Passionate about teaching & SEN and committed to giving children the best possible learning experiences.

  • Eager to develop their skills and knowledge, with a desire to grow within the role.

  • Excellent at managing time and prioritizing tasks to ensure the smooth running of the classroom.

We pride ourselves on being a school where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, creativity, and curiosity while learning to value the perspectives of others. Our curriculum is hands-on and engaging, ensuring all pupils—whatever their starting points—can make great progress.

As part of the Maritime Multi-Academy Trust, we benefit from a forward-thinking and innovative approach to education, working alongside other academies to transform lives through collaboration and a curriculum that equips children with essential life skills.

We can offer you:

  • A stimulating, inclusive environment where every child is valued, respected, and supported to achieve their best.

  • Personalised learning plans tailored to meet each pupil’s specific needs.

A positive and collaborative working environment where your contributions are valued.

  • National terms and conditions, including the Local Government Pension Scheme.

  • Ongoing professional development with opportunities for cross-trust learning.

Barnsole Primary School and Nursery is a three-form community school, located in the heart of Medway. Relationships with children, parents, carers and our wider community sit right at the top of our agenda; together we are stronger.

We are a friendly, inclusive school with a caring ethos and are committed to providing a safe and stimulating learning environment where each one of our children can achieve their potential and flourish both academically and socially.

At Barnsole, we believe that school is the start of a life-long learning journey. Our curriculum is carefully designed, delivered and reviewed to encompass our school values, which underpin everything we do inside and outside the classroom:
