The Batt School, St Mary’s Infants, Witney and The Oxford Diocesan Schools’ Trust (ODST) are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism; all staff must ensure that the highest priority is given to following the guidance and regulations to safeguard children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and obtain any other statutorily required clearance. Employment will also be conditional on the receipt of at least two acceptable references (1 from current/latest employer) and evidence of the formal qualifications required for the role. Online searches will be undertaken at shortlisting stage.


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home School Link Worker to join The Batt St Mary’s team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with families, children, and external agencies to provide early intervention, support, and guidance. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families by fostering positive relationships, addressing challenges, and supporting a range of needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and practical support to children and families, including parenting skills and behaviour management.
  • Regularly contact parents/carers to maintain high standards of attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and welfare.
  • Plan and coordinate additional activities to engage parents/carers in school life.
  • Develop knowledge of local resources and services, including Mental Health Teams, Social Services, CAMHS, and voluntary organisations, and communicate effectively with them.
  • Lead and support Early Help Assessments and attend TAF and EHCP annual review meetings.
  • Assist with creative and innovative family support plans, keeping detailed records and preparing reports.
  • Attend events such as coffee mornings, parents’ evenings, and training sessions to establish and maintain positive relationships with students and families.
  • Provide pastoral support to pupils, focusing on social and emotional development.
  • Actively contribute to the safeguarding and well-being of pupils by communicating concerns and participating in decision-making processes.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Experience working with children, families, and multi-agency professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, welfare, and local support services.
  • Excellent communication, mediation, and negotiation skills.
  • Resilience and confidence to handle challenging situations effectively.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to motivate and create change.
  • Commitment to working with pupils with special educational needs, including autism, SEMH, and challenging behaviour.

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to meet the needs of children and families, including emergency responses.
  • Legal duty under Health and Safety regulations to ensure the well-being of yourself, colleagues, and pupils.
