Horniman Primary School - Headteacher job summary
A fantastic opportunity to lead Horniman Primary School. We are seeking a headteacher who will build on the school’s current position – someone who will recognise the school’s uniqueness, grow our philosophy for learning, and who will bring a drive and energy to the role of headteacher. They will need to demonstrate a strong vision that supports the school’s ethos and relish the challenges involved in managing a one form entry school. This will need a hands on and robust approach to managing resources – making a little go a long way.
The successful candidate will:
• be excited at the prospect of inspiring pupils, staff and the school community
• have a strong, supportive vision relevant for a one form entry school
• have excellent leadership and problem solving skills
• be able to build strong relationships with parents and the wider community
• be able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting all pupils including those with SEND and other needs

Horniman Primary School is a popular one form entry maintained primary school in Lewisham in South East London. The school is situated high above Forest Hill, with an architecturally unique school building and amazing views across London. The school and its students are an embedded part of the surrounding local community and it celebrates its fiftieth birthday this year. The school was rated good by Ofsted in 2014 and 2018.
The school’s ethos is focussed around the whole child, and is about creating confident independent learners, who get along with each other, and celebrate our rich diversity.
