HR & Casework Manager job summary
Corpus Christi Catholic Academy Trust are looking to appoint a HR & Casework Manager. The person appointed will be based within the central team of the Trust and will work in collaboration with all the schools within the Trust across Manchester, Trafford, Tameside and Stockport. The role will provide a professional HR advisory service and operational HR support for the Trust, being the first point of contact for staff and manager queries on HR matters. You will also provide support to the Strategic HR Officer, as required and work as part of a wider Trust HR team to support activity as and when required.
This is a full-time post, however we will consider applicants who are interested in any full or part time working arrangements, including term time only, annualised hours, consolidated hours, reduced days per week, job sharing and any other agile or flexible working arrangement.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a diverse and challenging role to develop themselves further professionally. We are looking for an individual who would complement our existing Trust Central Team, who deliver HR, Finance, ICT and School improvement services to our schools.
The Trust is seeking to appoint an individual who has the experience, motivation, enthusiasm and skill set to work in partnership with the Headteachers and other stakeholders to help develop our rapidly expanding Trust.
The main duties of the role are:
HR policy - First point of call via the HR inbox / telephone for queries and advice on all HR matters, policies / terms and conditions from staff and managers, ensuring good practice and compliance in line with policy and legislation.
Case work - Employee relations case work, including grievance, disciplinary (inc. safeguarding), absence and capability/performance (with support of the Strategic HR Officer for more complex matters), which may include organising hearings and case papers, notetaking, drafting and issuing letters, occasionally conducting investigations, advising investigating officers / managers / panels at meetings / hearings.
Recruitment - Advising on recruitment to “add value” and improve processes, including management of any HR matters arising. This may include collation/review/analysis of equalities and other data.
Other HR activity – to include support with the completion and submission of statutory returns eg. gender pay gap, pensions, and apprenticeship levy; attending and participating in training events; partaking in ad hoc HR project work; and assisting with HR audits, Ofsted inspections, or any management information analysis required.
General – Attending and participating in induction and training events and ad hoc project work as required.
The successful candidate will:
Have a good standard of numeracy and literacy
Be CIPD Qualified or working towards qualification
Have experience of working in HR in an educational setting
Demonstrate a good understanding of teachers’ and support staff terms and conditions
Have an empathy with issues affecting schools
Understand relevant policy, procedure, employment law and good practice in relation to HR in schools, along with the ability to assess implications and articulate risk
Be a “people person”; able to build strong working relationships with, and influence others.
Have a high level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office.
Have the ability to use HR and education information systems eg. SAM People would be advantageous.
Be an effective and collaborative team member.
Take a solution-based approach to problems
Be a role model - understand, commit to and model the Catholic values and ethos
Be able and willing to work flexibly and respond to change on a daily basis, including working outside normal hours of work, on occasions, and in different Trust locations.
